An AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Approved Supervisor and Clinical Fellow, Kara is certified in Gestalt Therapy and trained in EMDR, DBT, and Crisis Prevention through the Crisis Prevention Institute. Before coming on board with Newport as an Associate Clinical Director in 2020, Kara served as a primary therapist and then program director for the Center for Discovery’s adolescent and young adult eating disorder residential programs. She brings to her role more than a decade of experience in the mental healthcare field, primarily working with adolescents and young adults struggling with eating disorders and body image issues.
Kara leads Newport’s national team in creating and managing eating disorder protocols and clinical programming across our locations.
